Product Overview

Product Name: BMW M 1000 RR (2021)
Brand:

The BMW M 1000 RR is a high-performance motorcycle designed for racing and homologated for World Superbike and Superstock competitions. It is based on the S 1000 RR but features significant upgrades to its engine, chassis, and electronics to deliver exceptional performance and handling.

Engine and Performance

The M 1000 RR is powered by a revised version of the S 1000 RR’s ShiftCam 999cc inline four-cylinder engine. The engine produces 209.2bhp (156kW) at 14,500 rpm and 83.35ft-lbs (113Nm) of torque at 11,000 rpm, making it significantly more powerful than its predecessor. The engine features new pistons that are 12g lighter, longer and lighter titanium conrods, slimmer and lighter rocker arms, and a higher compression ratio with a redline up by 600 rpm at 15,100 rpm. This results in greater performance from 6,000 rpm and a 0.4s improvement in acceleration from 0-125 mph compared to the S 1000 RR.

Chassis and Handling

The M 1000 RR features a revised chassis with aerodynamic enhancements, including new wings and geometry changes. The bike has a shorter gearing thanks to a 46-tooth rear sprocket compared to the S 1000 RR’s 45T version, and a 3.6kg lighter titanium exhaust system by Akrapovič. The bike is equipped with Marzocchi 45mm upside-down telescopic fork with 120mm travel, adjustable preload, compression, and rebound damping. The rear suspension consists of an aluminum swing arm with a full floater pro and Marzocchi shock, also with adjustable preload, compression, and rebound damping.

Electronics and Rider Aids

The M 1000 RR comes with a comprehensive suite of electronic rider aids, including seven rider modes (four pre-set and three customizable), Dynamic Traction Control, Hill Hold Control, Launch Control, Wheelie Control, and Pit Lane Speed Limiter. The bike also features BMW Motorrad Race ABS Pro and Shift Assist Pro. The rider aids are controlled via a 6.5-inch TFT display, which also displays the bike’s speed, gear, and other vital information.

Brakes and Wheels

The M 1000 RR is equipped with twin disc brakes, with a 320mm diameter front disc and a 220mm diameter rear disc. The front brake features a 4-piston fixed caliper, while the rear brake has a 2-piston fixed caliper. The bike comes with 120/70 ZR 17 front and 200/55 ZR 17 rear tires.

Dimensions and Weight

The M 1000 RR has a length of 1457mm, a height of 2073mm, and a width of 848mm. It weighs 192kg, making it relatively lightweight for a high-performance motorcycle.

Price and Availability

The BMW M 1000 RR is priced at £30,935, which is £10,000 more than the S 1000 RR with the M Package. The bike is available in various colors and can be customized with additional accessories such as the M Competition Package, which adds carbon parts, a lighter weight swinging arm, and a pillion seat cover.

Conclusion

The BMW M 1000 RR is a high-performance motorcycle designed for racing and homologated for World Superbike and Superstock competitions. It features significant upgrades to its engine, chassis, and electronics, making it one of the most powerful and exclusive motorcycles on the market. With its exceptional performance, handling, and electronic rider aids, the M 1000 RR is a formidable competitor on the track and a thrilling ride on the road.
